Welcome to Please Don't Kale My Vibe!

Welcome to the Please Don't Kale My Vibe Blog, the blog for those of you looking to better your nutrition and/or overall wellness. In this blog, I will be sharing information with you about topics that I love, such as nutrition, scientific basis for some "superfoods", alternative medicine, and fitness. My goal is to present all of the information in a way that both beginners and nutrition/wellness connoisseurs will enjoy.

This blog is perfect for you if:

  • You are new to nutrition and want to learn healthy recipes and wellness tips.

  • You have an interest in alternative medicine such as homeopathy, acupuncture, reiki, etc.

  • You are not new to nutrition but you want to learn more about why we are told to eat these "healthy" things- Are they really healthy?

  • You have an interest in the scientific basis of nutrition claims per the available literature.

Who I am. Why I am here.

My name is Alexis, and I am a 22-year-old recent college graduate. I graduated from Virginia Tech in May 2017 with a B.S. in Biological Sciences, a B.S. in Psychology, a minor in Medicine and Society, and a Scholar in Health Studies Diploma. I have always been fascinated with medicine and chose to pursue a medical career from a young age; however, once I got to college and began taking medical humanities courses, I realized that health is so much more than pharmaceuticals and physicians. Health is dependent on nutrition, physical activity, physical wellbeing, and emotional wellbeing. I, myself, have experimented with various nutritional lifestyles, reiki, emotional freedom techniques, and flotation therapy, with the intent to better my wellbeing, all of which I want to share with you. I am not nor do I claim to be paleo, gluten-free, vegan, etc., but I do aim to eat wholesome foods, as my recipes will reflect.

I am not a medical professional, registered dietician, clinical nutritionist, exercise physiologist, or anything of the sort. I am simply someone who loves learning about nutrition and teaching others how to become the best version of themselves. Because of my scientific background, I enjoy researching the literature behind what I speak about, so you can always expect references that will allow you to read the sources from which I gathered my information. I welcome disagreement and scholarly discussion so please feel free to comment and create a safe and healthy learning environment for everyone.

Thank you for reading and visiting my site! I hope you enjoy my content.
